You’ll want to donate to the Heritage Hog Scholarship Program!
It is an annual program promoted by the Foundation in which the winning applicant receives a $2,000 scholarship for raising a hog for auction at the Santa Cruz County Fair. All remaining funds after the $2,000 are used for fairgrounds maintenance projects. It is a fun, easy way to support educating our youth about raising livestock while also helping your Fairgrounds.
This year’s Heritage Hog Scholar is Jacob Dixon, a recent graduate of Watsonville High School who will be attending Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo this fall. Interested youth may apply for the Heritage Hog Scholarship in April 2019 on this website.
The Heritage Hog was donated by Country Hills Feed and the feed, supplements and dietary experience to help Jacob raise the hog are donated by Corralitos Feed.

The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds Foundation Heritage Hog Scholarship is offered to a deserving college or other higher education bound student interested in raising a hog to be brought to the Santa Cruz County Fair and sold at the Junior Livestock Auction. Proceeds from the auction, along with additional donations are used for various improvements to the Fairgrounds under the guidance of the Fairgrounds Foundation.
The Fairgrounds Foundation will provide the hog and feed and $2,000.00 to a student entering or currently attending college. This award will be allocated with verification of registration for full time classes.
